Dana is currently a resident of Battlement Mesa but his Colorado roots go back to his Grandfather’s hard-rock mining days in the 1880’s. Dana grew up in Southeast Kansas and worked his way through Western Reserve University by working in a steel mill and served this country proudly during the Korean War. During his service Dana met his wife to be Barbara and they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.
After his service Dana attended graduate school at the University of California thanks to the GI Bill. Dana spent his career helping the military and Postal Service be more efficient in the way they spend your money. Since retiring, Dana has been active in local volunteering and politics.
Dana on Education
I was lucky enough to attend graduate school thanks to the GI Bill I am a strong believer that government has, can, and always should play the central role in the education of citizens. In the coming years our children will be competing in a truly global marketplace for opportunities and we must ensure that local school districts are given the funding necessary to prepare our kids to win that fight. I want to do this by first working to guarantee that our schools have the funding they need and second, working to ensure that the tests that we give our children really tell us how our children are doing.
I want to thank COPOPS for their support and I hope we can work together for the next few months to produce the kind government we need so that our schools can fulfill their promise.
