I’ve taken on the challenge of running for the Colorado House of Representatives because I believe in the American Dream, that dream that says: “If I study hard in school, if I work hard in my job, if I obey the law and serve my community, I will be able to care for my family, have a few luxuries and retire with a sense of security.” However, I believe that the American Dream is only possible if we offer every child a quality public education, and access to a first class, affordable higher education. I believe that the American Dream is only possible if we strengthen our economy, invest in our future and attract industries that pay every employee a living wage. I also believe that we put the American Dream in jeopardy for every working family if they are denied access to affordable health insurance.

I’m pleased to have the endorsement of COPOPS. As a parent of three school aged children, a member of the Manitou Springs Board of Education and a member of the Colorado Association of School Boards Board of Directors, I’ve spent countless hours working to improve our public education system. In Colorado’s legislature I pledge to continue to fight for Colorado’s schools, working to ensure adequate funding as well as giving our school districts the flexibility and control they need to make decisions that meet the needs and reflect the values of their unique communities.
