Karen Teja has lived in Colorado Springs for the last 12 years with her husband Dan and 2 children.
Karen holds a degree from Fullerton Community College with a certificate in Early Childhood Education and Administration.
In 1997, Karen was elected to the Colorado Springs School District 11 Board of Education and served until November of 2005. While on the Board, she helped pass 2 school bond issues that allowed District 11 to build 6 new schools, renovate all buildings, and bring computers into every classroom. The bond issue in 1996 was the first to be approved by the voters in District 11 in 24 years.
Karen served a variety of roles during her two terms on the District 11 Board. She served as Board Treasurer and Vice President, headed the policy sub committee, started the liaison position for Early Childhood Education, and served on the bond and mill levy oversight committee.
