I developed and increased my appreciation for the grand enterprise of public education while serving on the Board of Education for the Saint Vrain Valley School district for 9 years.  The vast majority of school age children is and will continue to be educated by our public schools.  Encouraging the continued and enhanced support of public schools by our citizens is incumbent on us all and especially so on elected officials.

Preparing our young people to be life long learners is perhaps the single most important goal of public education in contributing to their quality of life, economic security, and personal fulfillment.  As contemporary jobs are increasingly being exported for economic reasons or are being supplanted by technology, American students must be prepared to maintain and enhance their skills as innovators.  Public schools provide the greatest possibility for harvesting the inherent potential residing in the generations to follow us!
