Innovation Management: Successful Exploitation Of New Ideas

One of the common definitions of innovation is the successful exploitation of new ideas. This shows that it is not only the invention of a new idea that we’re interested in. This idea is actually brought to market, used and put into practice that we can improve something or add some value on it.

Developing something which is innovative can be an individual process but usually we have seen this process in a group of people who have knowledge and roles in an organization. So, try to ask yourself. Are you a person who has the ability to create and manage to make something new? Have you ever explored fully new methods to lead, organize, motivate and coordinate? Have you ever found new approaches to management that some of your rivals envy you? According to science, inventiveness leading to innovation is a part of the human genes.

Without the willingness to experiment, to discover something new, to solve the problem and overcome new challenge, we would not have grown as a species. It is obvious that the most powerful ways in which we learn is when we fail from our expectations or when we do something and it doesn’t work.

Innovation on Both Sides of the Blue Ocean: How Yellow Culture Overcomes the Blues

North America and Europe appear to have different dominant management models of how to run an organization. Simply put, Northern Europe embraces the Rhineland model where employees have a fair lot to say about their work and people value a bottom up style of organizing. It’s very democratic.

Northern American companies seem to be managed much more top down (at least the ones that I have seen). Employees wait for decisions from the top and are told to work hard in their cubicles. (Sorry – just trying to emphasize the difference).

Creative development
Everybody is born creative but it doesn’t always take form right away. Development takes place at different times for different people. For example, the crayons and finger paints used in kinder garden were not only meant for the kids who possessed potential. A lot of times we see that our own potential was there all along, bubbling just below the surface. We just needed to scribble a bit longer in order to discover it.
